Even though these shows/movies were way before the Coronavirus Psyop, it definitely serves a purpose. It's either to get people to accept a martial law in the coming future or to be passive when martial law does take place because you are programmed to be scared of all the destruction during martial law. I really think it's to keep people passive when and if the hammer does come down.
